1. When did you decide to become a designer and why did you find this domain interesting?
I was born in the family Couture Atelier. Growing-up in the effervescent world of fashion, surrounded by the most beautiful silks and gowns gave me a taste for Fashion at a young age. I started College to become a doctor, and then I quickly realized it wasn’t my true calling!
2. Talk us trough the first years of you work. Maybe you could tell us what did change in time? Are your designs different from the very beginning?
There are some techniques and craftsmanship that cannot but be learned at specialized schools and applied at the Masters Ateliers. I consider the experience I gained from my time spent at Lanvin and Dior to be very important and very defining in my career. My designs have evolved with time surely as I have grown and my inspiration from Architecture became more and more intense with each new Collection.
3. Why should a bride-to-be choose one of your designs?
The Tony Ward Bride is Romantic, elegant and sophisticated.
4. Do tell us a bit more about your inspiration sources.
I draw my inspiration from contemporary Architecture, which helps me envision sculptural forms, create innovative techniques and play with the boundaries of light and transparency to create elegant and regal, refined silhouettes.
6. From your point of view, how should a perfect bride look like?
The cut of a Bridal dress should suit the woman wearing it. For example if she has a slim body, a body conscious dress would be amazing. If she has big hips, a slight A-line on the waist can help. If she has a big bust she needs to tighten the shoulders without opening too much. But for me a perfect Bride is one that is glowing with happiness!
7. And tell us what would you give her and, maybe, other brands can’t.
A Bride should always choose the dress that highlights her qualities. She needs to follow trends intelligently and choose something that matches her personality and emphasizes her most beautiful traits. She must feel comfortable in the dress, which should reflect her true identity. She shouldn’t worry about trends, as it often happens. I can be her good adviser and listen to what she really wants (laughs)
8. Last but not least, do you have any advice for FashionBride readers?
Be yourself, you will find your own style
