Princess Style Diary: Queen Margrethe II
AdvertisementsMargrethe II, in full Margrethe Alexandrine Thorhildur Ingrid (born April 16, 1940, Copenhagen, Den.), queen of Denmark since the death of her father, King Frederick IX, on Jan. 14, 1972.
Born a week after the Nazi invasion of Denmark, she spent the war years in Denmark and then attended school in Copenhagen. She continued her studies at the universities of Copenhagen, Århus in Jutland, Cambridge, the London School of Economics, and the Sorbonne. In 1953, following a change in the Danish constitution to permit female succession to the throne, Margrethe, the king’s eldest daughter, assumed the title of “throne heiress” (i.e., crown princess, although that title, in Denmark, had denoted the wife of a male heir to the throne).
As such, from her 18th birthday she regularly took part in meetings of the Council of State in preparation for her future regal duties. On June 10, 1967, she married Count Henri de Laborde de Monpezat, a French diplomat, who afterward took the title of Prince Henrik. Their first child, Crown Prince Frederik, was born on May 26, 1968, and a second son, Prince Joachim, on June 7, 1969.

Princess Style Diary: Victoria of Sweden
AdvertisementsCrown Princess Victoria of Sweden is one tough lady and one of my favorite princesses – she will inherit her father’s throne, has an amazing love and respect for her husband (pretty sure you all remember that fabulous wedding they had) but most of all she is imperfect like all of us.
Victoria is one of the few members of royal families that have admitted to suffering from eating disorders, having low self esteem and battling depression. And that hasn’t made her look weak at all, to me she is the living proof that you can have it all and yet feel uncomfortable with yourself – a far cry truth from all those “i am perfect with a perfect life” stories that celebs feed us these days.
Princess Victoria defeated her demons, married a handsome and loving man and has a beautiful baby daughter. She grew spiritually and emotionally and she proves we can all tackle our problems and get that lovely life we all deserve. For one who really hated how she looked like (exact quote: I really hated how I looked like, how I was) she is today a true fashion icon and a model for women of all shapes and sizes. Victoria of Sweden is indeed a princess of our world!

Princess Style Diary: Mary of Denmark
AdvertisementsJust before I started writing this article I heard Princess Mary of Denmark has received an award for her fashion sense. Need I say it doesn’t surprise me? I love that she manages to look young and fresh even do she is a mother of four and has such a busy agenda. She has been since early 2000 a modern fashion icon that proves that you don’t have to shock or wear only designer brand to look picture perfect.
She dazzles every time she attends a royal gala and she has been my all time favorites for her magic wedding gown (topped only by Princess Grace) but what I truly appreciate is her day to day style, that special way she mixes bright clothes, fun shapes and elegant silhouettes.

Princess style: Mette Marit
AdvertisementsOur princess watch started with Grace Kelly but for today’s episode we head far north, well at least if you live in Europe we do. Princess Mette Maritt started a bit rough as being a princess, since she was a single mother and had a bit of a wild past, but soon she proved to be one of Europe’s finest princesses and by far one of my favorites. I love her simple style and her choice of colors, as we all know it’s very hard to choose the right colors when you are a pale blonde but she always get its right. So she’s one of those public figures that you must keep an eye on for your wedding day – she’s the best role model when it comes to great party dresses. And lets not forget her own magic wedding dress!
