FashionBride Interview with Suzanne Ermann
Advertisements We all have our favorite designers, some we like because of their personal style, some because of their unique technique. I like Suzanne Ermann for both reasons. I can never guess what she’ll design next.![1b[1]](https://i0.wp.com/thefashionbrides.com/files/2010/01/1b1.jpg?resize=200%2C268)
Every year she surprises me with a new and fabulous collection. And 2010 is no exception from the rule. In order to get some answer on how she manages to design such unbelievable gowns, I’ve asked hers some questions and Suzanne was kind enough to answer.
When did you decide to become a designer and why did you find this domain interesting?
I discovered the sewing universe when I was 8 years old. Thanks to my grandmother who took me along with her to her friend’s workshop and then offered me my first sewing machine for my birthday.
Talk us through the first years of you work. Maybe you could tell us what did change in time? Are your designs different from the very beginning?
At the very beginning I designed cocktail dresses and then little by little these dresses evolved into gown dresses. Fabrics changed, fleshed out, style became more asserted. Why should a bride-to-be choose one of your gowns?
Because modern brides want to be different, they want to be both pretty, comfortable and looking fresh.
How long does it take to design a single wedding dress?
It is really a question of inspiration, sometimes I twill take two minutes and sometimes two days.
Do tell us a bit more about your inspiration sources for your collection.
I am inspired through different things such as: the fashion’s evolution, the women in the street, the new trends and even the architecture, various forms and objects.
Do you also work with brides or you just try to give them the best of your designs in your collections?
I listen to the brides from one way, which means I hear what they say but I also stay focus on my ideas to avoid being influenced too much by them and surprise them by offering new styles.
Have you got any gown you’ve created and that has a very special meaning for you? Can you describe it or can show us a picture?
When you work according to a specific theme , the dress must reflect this theme. For example to redolant the sea, I created a dress in blue shade tone with a twist which represented a wave (see picture).
From your point of view, how should a perfect bride look like?According to me, the most important is that the dress reflects the bride’s personality, emphasizes her lines and not being bulky.
And tell us what would you give her and, maybe, other brands can’t.
We’ve got really nice accessories such as gloves, umbrellas etc. In case of rain, one of our umbrellas would end perfectly the dress.
Can you give us an insight on your new collection? What where your inspiration sources, what did you opt for as materials, shapes etc.
Do you like a more traditional approach or do you try to create a different image of the traditional bride?
I am really focused on a modern and contemporary style to give an image that breaks with the traditional gowns.
Last but not least, do you have an advice for FashionBride readers?
Listen the advices but not being too influenced by them. -
FashionBride Interview with Joy Teiken from Joynoelle
Advertisements Ever wondered how some designers manage to always have such great collection while others only dream of it? I wonder the same. And I can’t figure out how Joy Teiken always manages to give her brides the best look ever.Since I can’t help but falling for her designs, I thought I’d better ask her some questions so I would know exactly what I’m dealing with here. And you know I can’t help but tell you all I know… so… here are her answers.
1. When did you decided to become a designer and why did you find this domain interesting?
I wanted to be a fashion designer as a child. I would sketch out Miss America Pageant dresses when I watched the Pageant on TV. That is when I first decided it was what I wanted to do. I get to use my natural talents when working in this domain.
2. Talk us trough the first years of you work. Maybe you could tell us what did change in time? Are your designs different from the beginning?
The basic concepts of my clothing are the same. I’ve always used classic lines, lovely fabrics and fun details in my garments. What had changed is the overall quality of the pieces.
3. Why should a bride-to-be choose one of your gowns? They are going to get something unique and classic that fits the body beautifully. They will feel special because the dresses are hand-made, and I believe that when things are hand-made a lot of personality comes through the dress.
4. How long does it take to design a single wedding dress?
It depends. Sometimes dresses come really quickly because I’ve had a dream of the dress, and the vision comes through. Other times they can take months to design a single dress because I work and re-work the dress until I’ve come up with the final design.
5. Do tell us a bit more about your inspiration sources for your collection.
My inspiration source is women who are unique and confident. They want something different but that will still stand the test of time.
6. Do you also work with brides or you just try to give them the best of your designs in your collections?
I work a lot with individual brides. I believe that its important that a brides personality comes through her dress, so allowing for custom details is very important to me.
7. Have you got any gown you’ve created and that has a very special meaning for you? Can you describe it or can show us a picture?
Yes. See the above picture.
8. From your point of view, how should a perfect bride look like?
She should look like herself. She should choose a dress that shows her personality so that in then years when she sees her photo’s it looks like her.
9. And tell us what would you give her and, maybe, other brands can’t.
I can give her a unique wedding dress that shows off a particular style of women.
10. Can you give us an insight on your new Collection? What where your inspiration sources, what did you opt for as materials, shapes etc.
For this particular collection I use a lot of subtle texture and color that is very beach and outdoor party friendly.
11. Do you like a more traditional approach or do you try to create a different image of the traditional bride?
I try to give my brides a different option to the big poofy dress. I like much more classic, clean and body flattering.
12. Last but not least, do you have any advice for FashionBride readers?
Stay true to your personality. Find a dress that shows who you are and wear your hair the way you normally wear it.

FashionBride Interview with Arvydas Videika from Vamp Bridal
Advertisements There are gowns that you like at first glance and gowns that you love after you give them a second look. I’ve adored a certain gown from the first moment I saw but it’s designer, Arvydas Videika, head of Vamp fashion house, says some of the brides might need some time to get used to his design. To solve the mystery I’ve asked some questions and found some precious information from a special Lithuanian designer that has enchanted us with his fabulous designs. Enjoy!
1. When did you decided to become a designer and why did you find this domain interesting?
About 15 years ago, I just wanted to do something beautiful, interesting and new (Lithuania about that time became independen, and we got a lot information about fashion)
2. Talk us trough the first years of you work. Maybe you could tell us what did change in time? Are your designs different from the very beginning?Oh yes, it all changed a lot… I just openede my own fashion house 5 years ago and then it become work to me, not just a hobby, quality changed because I hired professionals, I began to order better fabrics, visited different countries searching new and beautiful materials.
3. Why should a bride-to-be choose one of your gowns?Hard to answer, they should like my design, quality, price, service. I like my work, and I think they see that J. (FashionBride thinks Videika is far to modest, brides should buy his work because all of his gowns are exquisitely designed and bring a distinct touch in this line of work)
4. How long does it take to design a single wedding dress?Depends, if it is just a dress or a dress with corset, long or short…but we can do it about 2-3 weeks.
5. Do tell us a bit more about your inspiration sources for your collection.
First of all for me is beautiful women body, so I like the 50’s, I like corsets, light materials…
6. Do you also work with brides or you just try to give them the best of your designs in your collections?
Yes, about 70% of our brides like individual design. (FashionBride is impressed)
7. Have you got any gown you’ve created and that has a very special meaning for you? Can you describe it or can show us a picture? It’s like from 19th century but at the same time so new for our days, and so chic, it’s very feminine, very shaped but… not for all, not for a princess, like I say, you have to grow up to like this model. (We’ve most certainly grown up to adore it!)
8. From your point of view, how should a perfect bride look like?
The main thing – good quality and a well tailored dress…it makes miracles, the dress might be very simple, but…if it’s tailored, if it has right shape and if a bride knows all that – you‘ll see from kilometers – it’s a perfect bride J
9. And tell us what would you give her and, maybe, other brands can’t.A big choice of materials, models, shapes and design just for her.
10. Can you give us an insight on your new Collection? What where your inspiration sources, what did you opt for as materials, shapes etc.You can check out my new collection at http://www.vamp.lt/galerija-pv2010.htm . Materials – silk, satin, lace, shapes – asymmetry, very near body, very tight on top, and cascades of chiffon down, focus on shape, not on decoration.
11. Last but not least, do you have an advice for FashionBride readers? It’s very big day, and I think it worth to search THAT dress. The dress and all approach will show a lot to all guests – about your style, your knowledge of fashion, your opinion about chic decorations, originality, how you see yourself and much more, so don’t leave the search for the last day.

FashionBride Interview with Mauro Adami
Advertisements The DOMO ADAMI Bridal Couture Made in Italy collection captures, enchants and makes someone dream. It breaks the concepts of tradition and proposes gowns that can fit in the Haute Couture world. That’s why I could resist to make a short interview with the designer behind this wonderful bridal range. Here are some of his beliefs and advices for all you FashionBrides.
Hope you enjoy it!
1. Tell us what are the main reasons that stand behind the brand Domo Adami?
Behind DOMO ADAMI there is the creative ability and the need to fulfill the modern demands of organizing wedding parties, which have to be modern, lavish and always with a view to the special emotions that every bride experiences when she becomes the main character of the event.
2. And why Mauro Adami’s special interest for the bridal industry?I have always been fascinated by the emotional pomp. The bridal world is to me like a stage where fashion, Lighting, music and emotions work together in synchronization
3. Some of the best designers in the world are born in Italy. Do you think your background influenced in any way your creations?I believe that everybody has his own artistic value in his own background and that creativity can be influenced by encounters and experiences. Being Italian my taste is closer to the classic Beauty concept. A concept which is now renewed culturally and aesthetically by the trends and influences I collect during my travelling all over the world and by the special people I meet every day.
4. Talk us trough the process of making a gown. And tell us if you have a special way of designing (maybe some superstitions when designing?)First of all there is the emotion of an idea: a piece of fabric, a feminine movement, a setting to personalize. All that harmonizes and bends in like in a ballet of atmospheres.
5. Do you have a favorite gown? One that you’ve created and has a special meaning. And if so, what does it make it so special?
The gown in itself is just a part of the artistic message. The gown has to find its bride and only when this happens, the party will start taking up color and rhythm. When the perfect bride wears the perfect dress, this becomes a unique piece: a sheath dress, mermaid with a V neck on the back for a glamorous and feminine bride. A full wide ball gown for the dream which becomes reality.
6. How do you see a perfect bride? What should she wear? The perfect bride is complete in all her features, in any single moment of the ceremony and of the reception. When she chooses her accessories, the details and the style, everything has to be perfect.
8. Do you prefer a more conventional style or go for the avant guard when designing your collections?I prefer to know the traditions and the rules to create new routes which will celebrate the modern and contemporary elegance.
9. What about white, should a bride consider having a different color for her dress?White is the color which represents the bride. I drop the white only if I find a color which better expresses the emotion of the bride I am taking care of.
10. Tell us some more about your 2010 collection. What are the novelties you brings?
Simple lines, monochromatic and refined style for DA STUDIO Wedding Style & Glamour Collection: a modern glamour made of simple but sophisticated luxury
11. What were your inspiration sources, what did you opt for as materials, shapes etc.The 2010 Collections are the answer to the most modern social trends. Traditional brides to make people feel safe and to celebrate the event with great splendor and minimal brides for something very exclusive.
12. Last but not least, do you have an advice for FashionBride readers?I suggest they should research and be informed as much as possible. And entrust themselves to the professionals of the wedding.

FashionBride Interview with Teresa Raich, Novia D’Art
AdvertisementsThere are two types of wedding gowns: the ones you love and you would wear on your wedding day and the ones you adore and you would wear every moment for the rest of your life.
Novia D’art gowns fit perfectly into the second class. And making an interview with Teresa Raich, designer of Novia D’Art, is one of the reasons why I love so much my job.
Read it fast and do go get yourself a magic dress signed Novia D’art!
How different is a bridal designer from a “usual” designer? What is so special about designing bridal gowns?
A wedding designer is a person that gets their inspiration from the most wonderful and exciting day in a woman’s life.
When did you decide this is what to be (a bridal designer)?
It wasn’t by chance that I took the decision, it was the fact of living and working with my auntie, Carmen Raich, that made me realise how beautiful and how much creativity was involved in this job.Did you follow the standards imposed by tradition or you tried to go more for the avant-garde trends?
I don’t like to be very traditional, I rather be creative
How long does it take you to design a wedding dress?
Usually about a week is the average time
Can you tell us a bit more about where do you get your inspiration from?
In general, inspiration comes in the hand of the fashion although a type of material o embroidery can have a big inputDo you think brides should opt for a designer gown (a given pattern) or talk their way in and explain what they want, in order to get a unique dress?
I don’t believe that a bride should have a unique dress, I think the ideal dress is the one in which a bride will find herself comfortable and happy
Actually , do you also work with brides? Can someone come to your store and try to create a special gown only for her?
We can make personalized dresses but always within the Novia D’Art designs.
Have you got any particular dress you designed and has a very special meaning for you?
I still remember with great illusion the first dress I designed, it was made of tulle, see-through at the waist and with plenty of beads (little stones).Do you think a bride should stick to the tradition white? Or should we start thinking in colors?
Our 2010 collection is mainly in natural white. Some of them have a touch of colour given by a velvet ribbon in either green, burgundy, blue or a flower just to give a touch of colour and achieve a fresh and pure image.
From your point of view how should a perfect bride be? What would you give her and, maybe, other brands can’t.
All brides are perfect because the emotion involved in living that special day is wonderful. Novia D, Art has a wide range of different designs in order that each and every bride can find the perfect garment for the special day.
What makes your gowns different?
Each of our dresses have been designed by the team at Novia D, Art with the best robes and taking exhaustive care of the quality of the gowns.
Can you give us an insight on your next Collection? What where your inspiration sources, what did you opt for as materials, shapes etc.
Gowns inspired by the sweetness and femininity of the 1960s are transported towards the sensuality and spectacular nature of the 1980s. A transition in which this collection defines itself and evolves freely, inspired by these two beautiful periods.Sobriety and distinction define elegant gowns with tailored cuts; waists and empire lines typical of the 1960s. Short and long skirts with volumes created with pleats. Rich in hand created embroidery, expressed on belts and beautiful accessories and a marked 1960s look with veils and short gloves, camellias and bows as distinguished accessories, an aura of sweetness and elegance highlighting the purest femininity of a woman. The dresses are all in white silk with touches of Swarovski crystals and velvet ribbons in burgundy, emerald green and midnight blue velvet, a display full of sobriety and sweetness, the perfect mixture to define the beauty of a woman on such a special day.
A collection that transcends, evolving from the 60s to the 80s. The 80s which bring to mind the movement of this period and a very sensual, highly spectacular, sexy woman. The dresses of the 80s are full of sensual movements worked on gauze, silk and muslin with great dynamics. Asymmetric styles at the shoulders creating volumes full of expression and a touch of guipure lace is a point to be highlighted.
Last but not least, do you have an advice for FashionBride readers?
Be yourself when you chose your gown so it shows how you really are and make sure you feel unique, special and happy with your decision. -
FashionBride Interview with Katerina Bocci
Advertisements I know my readers what to know everything about the wedding gowns! And since I want to help you know all about them I decided to have a short interview with Katerina Bocci. Her designs are absolutely fabulous and I’m sure you wanna know all about her work.I must say I’ve kept this interview for myself :P, for quite a while. Katerina has been so kind and answered me to all my questions and I almost wanted to keep all the knowledge for myself.
Well, you know I couldn’t be so mean, so here it goes:
First of all tell us a little bit about yourself, when did you decide to do this, was it a childhood dream or rather a wish to change things in the bridal department?
My father used to be a man tailor in my home country Albania and it was always my dream to be a fashion designer. So when I was 18 I started designing just for friends but very fast started to become like a request for so many people.
I decided to continue my education and I went to Italy where I studied At the SITAM school of design in Padova . I graduated in 1999 and in 2001 I came in the States. I located in Mi where I started working with a lot of private clientele as well as I worked for couple of years in a bridal salon I hated every time when a bride would come in and the dress would never fit right.
I hated when they made them order bigger sizes so they could fit them and make more money on alteration. It was not fair to the people.
How did your first wedding gown looked like? Do you remember, can you describe it a bit?So I always put it in my mind as soon as I make some money I would have my own Bridal line which would be worked upon exact size of measurement not in size charts, so privately started doing custom bridal gowns and all that money went into savings for my own line , as well as I was staying so close to the needs of the bride I would learn sooo much about them.
At the end it is all about having the bride happy , having the right dress for them , the right design, the right fit, the right fabrics. So that has been very helpful for me. My first custom bridal I did the first year I came to the States.
An Albanian singer(very known in Albanian community) was getting married and she could not find her
dream dress so she approached me and I made it happen. It was a mermaid sweetheart, dress with a long busseled train and the bottom of the dress was hand sown feathers with Swarovski stones.
The dress was a dream and for sure did bring me a lot of business.Tell us a bit more about your inspiration and your sources.
I am a very spiritual person , and I always say my inspiration comes to me from the Holy Spirit that opens my mind and eyes to see beautiful things.
I think that woman is the most beautiful thing that God has created and I would find the inspiration in this beauty, it can be the body, it can be the face, it can be the personality. And by putting these together , that’s how I come out with the design
Talk us through the process of making a gown. What’s the most difficult part and how can we (as future clients) can help you (I think our continue change of mind isn’t helpful 😛 ).Because I design and produce my own pattern I do not have a lot of difficulties. What is sometime hard when I work on one and one costumer is when they can not vision, or they like smth that would not work for their body, in this case they have to learn to trust the designer. That is harder because I have to explain over and over
I love working with silk , I love textured fabrics, and I love to mix as well , lace and stones , tuling and silk and handmade rosettes, it is the same as cooking and you use different spices and garlic and it comes into an amazing taste
Are you more fond of the traditional bridal look or do you tend to be more avant-gardism?I like my designs to be bold and avant guard , women have to dare and wear, be unique, not always in tradition , the bride is so special does not have to look the same as every other bride.
They have to be their selves and please do not see the tag who made the dress , see how much you love the dress , how it fits you , how it makes you feel.Do you also work with brides? Or you just offer them a given pattern that can be latter modified?
Here where I live in MI, I do work with the brides privately, by designing custom for them, but even when we sell to stores the dress is customized to the brides measurements, and in a lot of cases we meet the brides as well through the trunk shows and offer them custom changes of our designs.
Have you got any particular dress you designed that has a very special meaning for you? A dress that you remember and care about? My very special dress is called “SPERANZA”, it is very special to me because it is the first dress of my own collection , and the meaning of the word is hope, and in this case the hope never ends for nobody like me as a designer and for the bride who is going to wear it as well.
Why do you think your gowns stay apart from the crowd?
My gowns stay apart from the rest because they are made with love, having three daughters and being the only child I know how important it is to the mothers and the brides this day. Secondly designing my own patterns myself , knowing the differences on women’s bodies, our fit is exquisite, producing the gowns in our own
studio we stand for our quality, everything is MADE IN USA. We try to use as much as possible ECHO-friendly materials as well as the designs are just divine.
Can you give us an insight on your 2010 Collection; what where your inspiration sources, what did you opt for as materials, shapes etc.In my new collection I like to give different shapes so any bride can like them and I am using a lot of duchess satin , lace and Swarovski stones. You can find princess dresses but you can find sexy mermaids as well.
Last but not least, do you have an advice for Fashion Bride readers? My advice to all the brides is: Be true to yourself, I am sure you all have a dream in your mind and hart how your wedding dress will look like , please go for it.
And when you go shopping for the dress do not go with tons of people , the best would be your mother or sister. Best of luck to all of you. -
FashionBride Interview with Barbara Fabree
Advertisements I must say I fell in love with Barbara Fabree’s designs! You know I’m a very picky person and that I don’t say that too often, but I am really, really loving the simple and elegant line that Barbara’s gowns have.Since I wanted to know a bit more about her gowns, I did a quick interview with Barbara which I hope you’ll enjoy as much as I do!
And don’t forget to check her collection and choose your perfect gown :D!
First of all tell us a little bit about yourself, when did you decide to do this, was it a childhood dream or rather a wish to change things in the bridal department?
As long as I can remember I was busy drawing and creating outfits for my Barbies, I always wanted to become a fashion designer. I went to the Amsterdam fashion Academy and graduated cum laude when I was 23. I left for London for an apprentice by the bridal wear designer Catherine Rayner, I immediately fell in love with the métier; the beautiful silk fabrics and the workmanship , the time and effort spend on one dress, that is only possible for a wedding dress.
How did your first wedding gown looked like? Do you remember, can you describe it a bit?
I must say that my first wedding gown was my own; aged 24, married the love of my life, my French husband Bruno (for almost 13 years). It was made of ivory silk duchess, heart shaped bodice with long sleeves of French lace, draped straight skirt and a four meters long train.
The success was enormous and there were a lot of girls asking me to make their dress from that day on.Tell us a bit more about your inspiration and your sources.
My style is classic, sophisticated and pure, it has to enhance the beauty of the bride before all. A beautiful design doesn’t need a lot of decorations, pure lines and an perfect coupe from the best silks is all you need.
I’m inspired from beautiful fabrics, but there are a lot of things that inspire me; art books, museums (fashion history), movies. The greatest inspiration of all is the bride; her wishes and desires are what inspires me to create a dress even more beautiful than she can imagine.
Talk us through the process of making a gown. What’s the most difficult part and how can we (as future clients) can help you (I think our continue change of mind isn’t helpful 😛 )
The most important aspect for me is to really listen and hear the brides wishes and than to advise her in what way she will look and feel at her best on her wedding day .I’m always honest and because I’m a woman myself i know we all are conscious about some part of our bodies(no matter how thin or beautiful you are)The great thing about haute couture is that I can make those “imperfections” disappear.
When the design is made and the measurements taken we make a toile, a cotton dress, at this stage the design can be altered and the bride can see for herself if she is comfortable in it. Now comes the difficult part and that is weight loss, I always tell my brides that to alter a silk dress isn’t the best thing to do, it s a pity when you see stick marks or when the fit isn’t perfect anymore because of weight loss. So until we make the toile the brides can loose weight…..most of them take that very seriously.
What do you like to see at a bride; is a certain fabric, maybe embroidery or other things like that.I love to see the true beauty in a bride, she is still herself but at her most beautiful; clear, classic feminine lines, beautiful silk fabrics that enhances these simple lines.
I also love French lace that is my specialty; it is so sophisticated. I work it like a puzzle on the body of the bride, it is all done by hand and that shows; there are no seams it just embraces the skin. In my opinion it is more seductive to see skin under a beautiful lace bodice than a very décolleté strapless gown that shows it all.
And of course a bride is only a bride when she wears a veil, the silk and lace veils we make by hand from the same lace as the dress, the moment the bride puts on her veil is always breathtaking.
Does your upbringing (you are born in the Netherlands) change the way you perceive a bride? And does that reflect in your designs (are they more sober or more distinguished then the Latin ones)
I think it is a matter of taste, my clients appreciate this more sophisticated style, they are already used to quality clothes and materials, they look for the same quality in their wedding gown.
But it is true that Dutch design is well known for its pure and simple lines. Are you more fond of the traditional bridal look or do you tend to be more avant-gardist?
Maybe a classical avantgardist, there are so many overwhelming bridal designs everywhere; feathers, paillettes and frills; my advice is keep it tasteful and elegant, choose quality before extravagance. Keep that for a night out.
Do you also work with brides? Or you just offer them a given pattern that can be latter modified?
Every dress is haute couture, one of a kind made especially for one bride.
Have you got any particular dress you designed that has a very special meaning for you? A dress that you remember and care about?
Of course my own dress and hopefully the dress for my daughter Sophie in the future ( she is only 9 at the moment)
Why do you think your gowns stay apart from the crowd?
Because they are so different from the rest, no strapless or frills.
Can you give us an insight on your 2010 Collection; what where your inspiration sources, what did you opt for as materials, shapes etc.
More sleeves and (strapless is really finished) Lots of beautiful French lace bodices even with high necklines, wide skirts and long trains. More constructed forms from mikado silk that really stands out.
Last but not least, do you have an advice for FashionBride readers?
Stay true to your own style, don’t be a completely different person on your wedding day, choose a dress that enhances your best features and camouflages the parts you don’t feel secure about. Follow your heart when you choose your dress, you will feel it when it is the right one for you.
You can also add anything else you want to tell my readers.
I wish them lots of memorable, precious moments in these special times of choosing the dress of their life!

FashionBride interview with Juli Lee from Julianna Rae
Advertisements Planing a wedding isn’t as easy as is seems, that’s why you need all the help you need when it comes to relaxing and pampering. Take your time and use special products to make you feel the queen of the day.Ands to make all thing a lot more easier do use Julianna Rae product. Because we love to help you, we made a quick interview with Juli Lee from Julianna Rae in order to find all the answers we need ! So grab a cup of coffee and enjoy our interview (I sure did!).
First of all let me thank you for the interview and let me ask you how do the Julianna Rae products respond to the a brides needs?
Julianna Rae has a beautiful line of sleepwear, lingerie, and loungewear made in luxurious natural fabrics. Most of the time, the bride is thinking about the wedding day because it is such a big event. But she shouldn’t forget about the wedding night as it’s still her moment to look dazzling and about her upcoming honeymoon. What a better way to start a marriage than with seven nights of gorgeous, sexy sleepwear. And, let’s not forget the daytime hours of her honeymoon – our loungewear is the perfect clothing to pack for any trip – light weight, wrinkle free, and it goes everywhere! To brunch, shopping, touring, even to the yoga or Pilates class.
Then, let’s not forget the bridesmaids who have been so helpful keeping the bride calm that magical day. Our silk travel bags, spa kits, and loungewear make wonderful memorable bridal gifts.
Give us an insight on what a bride should wear “underneath it all “.
Of course it depends on the shape of your dress. But in general, because the wedding is such an exciting and hectic time, she should be as comfortable as she can be – and thankfully, there is lingerie that is as comfortable as it is gorgeous. Go silk lingerie with a touch of lycra for your underthings – it’s lightweight, feels fabulous against the skin, lies smooth against the body, and most importantly, it BREATHES! And of course, when the dress comes off, you will still look beautifully dressed!
Now, admittedly, it is very difficult to find a silk strapless bra if your gown demands a strapless bra. In this case, you want to go with a seamless bra to make sure you have a perfectly smooth look. Here, I think the most comfortable bras are the adhesive strapless bras – both strapless and backless. These bras now come with plenty of support and in some cases, molded cups if you need some help with shaping (who doesn’t?!). The adhesive is much better than in the past so the bra actually stays on while dancing the night away. Just make sure “to slip into something more comfortable” behind closed doors because the adhesive bra are not the prettiest look!
We already know that you are an absolute expert in pampering :)! Do give us some advice for a bride to be!
When planning a wedding, time becomes your biggest luxury – so take it! Remember, the wedding is as much for your family and friends as it is for yourself and your fiancé so don’t feel guilty taking a time out or two for yourself. Spoil yourself with a nice relaxed lunch with just a book or a magazine for company. Or give yourself a spa treatment at home – a long bath, a mud mask, a good exfoliating scrub and rich shea butter lotion – all followed, of course, by wrapping yourself in a fabulous robe. Or go see a light comedy in the middle of the afternoon and laugh out loud – even if you’re the only one in the movie theater. After any of these activities, any of those life or death decision you have to make will seem a bit easier.
Tell us a bit more about how did you started and why did you decide to work in this domain.
My friends started complaining that they couldn’t find lingerie that worked for them – lingerie that wasn’t uncomfortable and poorly made or lingerie that was really meant to be worn for someone else. So I went shopping and they were right! It was hard to find a fashion quality lingerie brand that filled the gap between where brands like Victoria’s Secret left off and where utilitarian sleepwear that my grandmother would wear picked up. Of all the clothing I have designed, lingerie and sleepwear has been my favorite category so I dove right in to fill that gap.

Every bride will get bombarded with loads of advice about her wedding, both wanted and unwanted. And many things will go perfectly as planned and so many things will go so horribly awry. So here’s some advice on how to get all the frustrations of an upcoming wedding out of your system so they don’t show up in the wedding photos as scowl lines on your face. I call it letter writing therapy, not much used these days with the prevalence of e-mail, but so easy. Buy gorgeous stationary and write a series of well, angry detailed letters to each person and vendor that has irritated you in your wedding planning.
Go ahead and tell them how they make you feel and what curses you heap upon their heads. Seal up each letter in an envelope but do not label in the envelope. Then put them away in a box. You’ll be surprised how cleansing such vituperative writing can feel on such beautiful stationary.
After the wedding is over, every now and then, pull out one of those envelopes and read – since they aren’t labeled, you won’t know who’s letter you are going to pull. It will give you a sense of relief and probably a laugh that you only put these on paper to yourself.

FashionBride Interview with Farah Angsana
AdvertisementsIt’s not easy to interview a great designer, so I don’t even want to tell you how hard it is to get the power and ask people you admire to feature your small blog.
But everythime I do it, I discover that behind the great names you always (or at least many times) find greater people. I’ve asked 12 questions to Farah Angsana and she was kind enough to answer all of them and to give us an insight to this amazing world, embroidered with gowns, dreams and new beginings.
So, read it carefully and don’t forget to try some of Farah’s gowns until you decide upon the one, who knows maybe she’s the one that has already designed you bridal dream gown.
Here we go:
1.How did and when did you decide do be a bridal designer?
I’ve always had a desire to do a bridal collection. When I brought my couture collection to the U.S, my team encouraged me to start exploring bridal and after several months of research, I finally decided to launch a collection last year. I have been overwhelmed by the response I have received.
2.What materials do you use?I use everything from Silk Duchess Satin and Silk Chiffon to Silk Gazar and lace. It depends on the designs. Each fabric represents a different character to make into gowns.
3. Where do you find your inspiration?
Everywhere! I usually look for inspiration from travelling and different cultures to even the movies and fantasizing what my idea of a dream wedding should be.
4.Have you got any favorite bridal designers?
I believe every bridal designer is doing what’s best for their clients and themselves. I appreciate all their hard work. Each one of them has its own specialty and style.
So it’s hard for me to have a favorite.
5. Do you have a certain favorite color (ivory, pure white, blue white)? What do you think about colored wedding gowns?I usually go for Ivory or white. I believe some colored wedding gowns are beautiful. Especially in gold, silver or even soft tones colors.
I am not a fan of dark colored wedding gowns.
6. Is there a certain gown you absolutely love or that has an importance to you ?I still have my grandmother’s wedding gown; it’s a very beautiful antique lace piece. She made it herself in the 20’s. Every time I open the box when I go home, I remember all the stories she had told me. Another wedding gown I admire is Christian Lacroix bridal piece from his Haute Couture collection. I saw it during his exhibition last year at the “Musee Les Arts Décoratifs” in Paris. It’s a work of artisan. From the lace trims to the fabrics he combines, it just looks like beautiful layers of wedding cake from the back.
7. Do you work with brides or you give them a range of gowns and they only select one?
I work with many different types of clients, from V.I.P who is very discreet to my recent Hollywood celebrity. I cater this service with another brand called “Farah Angsana Atelier Sposa”.
The service that I offer start from the meeting with the bride, acknowledge the wedding plan, location and her status. I usually ask what she likes and her preferences.
From there, I sketch in front of her to choose, select the fabrics to discussion of the embroideries. All the embroideries with “Farah Angsana Atelier Sposa” are hand embroidered in Paris by well-known house of “Lesage”. Meanwhile, Farah AngsanaBridal Couture is available at exclusive bridal stores.
8. Why do you think brides should buy a gown not rent or borrow?I think brides should own their gowns for their special day. It’s a change towards her new life and She should feel brand new start from her special day for her love one.
Borrowing is like lending someone’s life to your new one. The bridal gown if she own will have a memory when they grow old, she will have a story to tell for her future generations.
9. Is the bridal gown different from any other gown? And why?
A bridal gown is different from any other gowns. It’s white, voluminous and feels exciting to choose and is there to represent a special day.
10. How and why do your gowns stand out from the crowd? It’s a combination of a simple silhouette with exquisite embroidery that make my gowns stand out.
11. What are the main influences in your new collection? My influence to new collection is from cultures to romance and life.
12. Have you got any advice for my readers?
Absolutely.
1. It is important to understanding the shape of your body and your personal style, then to discuss it with the professionals for their collections.
2. Never bring too many people with you during a consultation. It could be just your mom or your good friend.
3. Avoid the over decorated wedding gown, like a Christmas tree for yourself; because it’s you that have to shine that day not only your dress.
4. As soon as you find the dress, order and buy it. So that it won’t confuse you even more. After all, you already consult with the professionals. They are the expert.

Uranio by Manuel Mota
AdvertisementsIt’s not a beautiful thing to blog about. But maybe it’s a way to wake up from our “beautiful sleep”. Life is not always an easy road and the only think we are sure about is that we never know how and when it will end.
The team at Now magazine have been nice enough to quote me as a reference to Manuel Mota’s gown offered to Jade Goody by Mohamad Al Fayed. I can only thank them and I hope the gown will bring a little love, happiness and hope to Jade.
PS. @ all my readers: Take care of you all! Love, Kally.
