Burgundy Smoky Eyes Bridal Makeup

Smoky eyes in shades of burgundy is Spring/Summer 2010 ’s most popular wedding makeup look, says popular beauty blogger and professional makeup artist Sally Streets. As reported in her beauty blog MakeFace, “For brides I prefer to use a color other than black or gray for a less harsh look, and burgundy has been my most popular smoky bridal eye for Spring/Summer 2010”.

A former Elite fashion model, Nylon magazine intern, and short-lived employee of top tier makeup artist rep The Wall Group, Streets found her calling in the fashion and beauty industry as a freelance makeup artist. Within a year of starting her career, she was working on major campaigns and catalogs, building a strong bridal business, and even assisting such famed makeup artists as Aaron DeMay and Kabuki.

Humor is something else Streets knows a lot about. In between jobs, she started MakeFace to chronicle her experiences as a makeup artist and her thoughts on “beauty tips for a life that isn’t always sober.” The blog combines useful makeup tutorials, beauty insights and life observations with wry humor in an overall kitschy eighties-inspired theme.

As MakeFace’s following grew, Streets’ fan base began to regularly anticipate her fresh perspective and candidness, with bridal clients especially loving her down to earth style. “I love my brides,” Streets says, “People think I’m crazy when I say this, but they really are my favorite clients.” According to Streets, the trend for evening weddings and the popularity of burgundy flowers and bridesmaids dresses are the reasons for this season’s most fashionable makeup choice.
