It’s always interesting to find out more about the background of your potential dress, that’s why I find it particularly fascinating talking to the people that make our dreams come true. That’s why I wanted to do an interview with Natalie, from Ava Madison, about the gowns she loves, the changeless of this business and her love for her clients. Read all about it below and don’t forget to check avamadison.com.au

1. When did you decided to become a designer and why did you find this domain interesting?
Michelle and I formed Ava Madison after we both found it difficult to source high quality, fashionable and ultra feminine dresses for our own bridesmaids. We both have a business background and this was a learning curve which has been exciting and challenging.

2. Talk us trough the first years of you work. Maybe you could tell us what did change in time? Are your designs different from the very beginning?
We have been retailing for almost 2 years and have continued to extend the range to cater for different body shapes and personalities. We have are continuously on the lookout for new fabrics that might appeal to our clientele and we listen to feedback from our clients and work to create necklines and detailing that can be transition from a bridal party setting and cocktail setting. It can be difficult to maintain a balance between evening wear that is made for just one person whilst also ensuring a garment will work well alongside different designs or colours.

3. Why should a bride-to-be choose one of your designs?
We are always amazed at how our dresses look so different on every bridal party. They come alive on the girls and we have carefully chosen styles that can be accessorised in a number of different ways to create various looks. Ava Madison dresses are made using high quality fabrics and are available in a wide range of contemporary colours.

4. Do tell us a bit more about your inspiration sources.
We are inspired by anything that we see that is ultra feminine from fabrics, prints, accessories and fashion trends and we combine these elements with classic silhouettes to create fun, feminine and elegant gowns.

5. Have you got any piece you’ve created and that has a very special meaning for you? Can you describe it or can show us a picture?
The Alexandra dress is very dear to me as it was the first garment that we created to flatter women with fuller busts and this was something I was passionate about doing as I can empathise with ladies that are looking for garments that celebrate the feminine physique in a tasteful manner.

6. From your point of view, how should a perfect bride look like?
A perfect bride should look as happy as she feels. She should choose a garment that not only compliments her figure but also celebrates her personality.

7. And tell us what would you give her and, maybe, other brands can’t.
The Ava Madison experience. We are passionate about what we do and we get to know our clients on a personal level.

8. Last but not least, do you have any advice for FashionBride readers?
Ensure that you leave enough time to plan each stage of the wedding. Bridesmaid dress shopping should start at least 6 months prior depending on when you require the dresses. Be flexible on colours and styles and work with your bridal party to choose dresses that they feel comfortable in.
