Shopping on the High Street for your Wedding

In that type of shop, they get true one on one service and benefit greatly from the experience of the owner and their staff. Given how special a bride’s wedding day is this way of buy the dress is likely to continue to be popular for the near future.

However, when it comes to bridesmaid dresses many couples are not turning to mainstream retailers. Often, taking this approach makes the buying process easier. It will also save a couple on a tight budget a great deal of money.

Growing choice

The fact that many fashion outlets are now targeting this market means that there is plenty of choice. As more retailers stock bridesmaids dresses, prices are dropping too.

Long dresses dominate

Most have continued with the popular summer styles, so you will see plenty of maxi dresses, and other styles of full-length dress.

Plenty of texture

Also popular are embellished dresses. These feature either embroidery or beads, sometimes both. They work really well as bridesmaid dresses, but the more muted designs are the best option.

Another nice option is a lace effect dress. We have also seen some unusual crocheted lace dresses, which are special enough to be used as bridesmaid dresses.

A warm colour palette

For an autumn or winter wedding, warm colours work particularly well, so it is good to see plenty of red and mauve fabrics being used. There are also a few black dresses in some collections. We know that is an unusual colour choice for a bridesmaid dress, but it is one that can be made to work.

Keeping your bridesmaids warm

Perhaps the biggest drawback of getting married in the winter months is that it can be cold. If you do not want your bridesmaids to look blue in the photos, and be shivering in the wedding video, you need to kit them all out with some sort of wrap or shawl.

This year there are some very nice ones available, but not as many as in the past. The ones that work best are those made from luxury fibres, for example pashmina. However, these can be expensive, so if you are on a tight budget, opt for lightweight cotton shawls instead.

Wedding guest outfits

Mainstream retailers are not just catering for bridesmaids. They are increasingly stocking clothes that are great for the wedding party, and other guests.

When it comes to dresses for weddings, most women are looking for something special. Many fashion designers bear this in mind when they put together their collections. They are increasingly including a few high-end dresses and outfits in their range.

For autumn/winter 2016 many chains are selling beautiful lace dresses, which when paired with a nice jacket, wrap or shawl are perfect for a wedding. They are ideal to wear to a Christmas party or New Year celebrations, which really appeals to today’s cash strapped consumers.

Visiting the bigger chain stores and looking at their wedding outfit, and bridesmaid dress collections, really is worth doing. You will be pleasantly surprised by what you find, and are highly likely to find what you need at a bargain price.
