TheFashionBrides Q&A ep.6: Saiid Kobeisy
Advertisements
We travel east for today’s Q&A and learn more about Saiid Kobeisy, a visionary artist, a dreamer and a passionate person. Foreign cultures and civilizations in addition to his Lebanese culture played a very important role for having a constant inspiration. Becoming who he is , owning his own brand was like a childhood dream. His passion toward fashion was the reason behind him not giving up. His brand describes him, and his character is translated through every single detail and effort he put into his work.
What is your favorite bridal trend for 2016?
Simple and Sensual are words that mostly describe the 2016 bridal trend. In my latest collection, I have escaped the conventional wedding gown and revitalized new and daring styles that both
classic and modern brides would love. Floral Lace applique, overskirts, and illusion bodices define my favorite trend for the 2016 bride.
What is your favorite piece from you collection that you advice my readers to try?
Every gown from my collection is a distinctive piece with a unique identity and when it comes to choosing the perfect dress, every woman has her own vision and style. My advice to my readers
is to try different styles and silhouettes and choose the one that suits their body type the most.
Do you advice brides to use colors for their wedding gown?
White, ivory, and beige are the most elegant colors for bridal gowns, but if a bride wants a little twist, she might go for light pink for a change though it’s preferable to stick to the traditional
colors.

TheFashionBrides Q&A ep.5 : Lyn Ashworth
AdvertisementsBridal gowns aren’t simple dresses they are made of dreams and wishes that a future bride has, in their tulle and laces these gowns embody all that is good and elegant. And that’s why people like Sarah Barrett, head designer and creative director at made in England couture house, Lyn Ashworth, exist – to make all our dreams come true. In our today’s Q&A we head to England to find out what Lyn Ashworth has in store for us in 2016.
1. What is your favorite bridal trend for 2016
Our 2016 collection featured a lot of lace. It is a trend that is here to stay! We have incorporated it both on bodices and skirts. One style, ‘Arabella’ features a t-shirt sleeved bodice, made from beaded French lace and it is proving to be very popular, as brides want to mix a modern shape with a classic fabric and design.2. What is your favorite piece from you collection that you advice my readers to try?
My absolute favourite dress from the 2016 collection is Bryony. It is made from the most beautiful French lace. This porcelain ivory beauty just drapes effortlessly and with a matching full length silk lace veil we have the perfect combination3. Do you advice brides to use colors for their wedding gown?
At Lyn Ashworth we feel that a bride should get married in whatever colour she wants! Many of our dresses come in a range of colours, this seasons colours being tones of nude, blush and sea pearl along side the always popular ivory. We also offer a very popular bespoke service from our studio and recently made a stunning gown for a bride in pink and gold.Don’t forget to get in touch with them via social media

TheFashionBrides Q&A ep.5 : Berta Bridal
AdvertisementsEach designer has his special way of designing and that is what I love most about the bridal industry. Designing wedding gowns is an art form and Berta Bridal is the perfect example – elegant cuts, sexy silhouettes and an amazing sense of uniqueness. We talked to the team behind the brand and asked them our 2016 Q&A, curious to learn their secrets? Read along 🙂
1. What is your favorite bridal trend for 2016
My favorite trend is the use of extra elements that accompanies the dress – detachable trains, over skirts, boleros and capes. Adding one of those elements creates two completely different looks – one can be more modest/stylish and the other is usually more modern and sexy.
A good example for that you can see in the dress I designed for Miss USA – Olivia Jordan for the final of the Miss Universe competition (in which she won runner up). For Olivia I designed a sexy beaded lace dress with a matching dramatic cape. This created 2 different looks for Olivia, when most viewers actually thought she had two different dresses for the final stage.
2. What is your favorite piece from you collection that you advice my readers to tryThis is like asking which one of your kids you like most. Each and every dress in my collection is a creation I sketched, designed, crafted and played with for a long time before I reached the final outcome. They are all very dear to me, and in the same way.
So I can choose a favorite, but I can say that there is a dress that might mislead you, a design that once you put on yourself will give you a magical feel that you wouldn’t expect by watching it in the picture or on the hanger. I’m talking about BERTA model 16-07 (see above). It’s a magical combination of both modern/sexy and classy/vintage.
3. Do you advice brides to use colors for their wedding gown?Yes I would, but I would stick to blush tones, and won’t go beyond that. I like to use a lot of blush and Champaign tones in my designs, many times combined with ivory fabrics as well – this can create a very unique look, vintage-like, and still be seen as a wedding dress.

TheFashionBrides Q&A ep.4 : Couture Hayez
AdvertisementsItalian style has something special about it. I recently went to Milan and realized on my own how different the fashion is there, with a drop of maturity and refinement yet with excitement and chicness. Bridal fashion is no different as proven by Couture Hayez, the brand that brings us with every new collection amazing gowns. For our q&a we talked to the stylist and Brand Manager of Couture Hayez, Loriana Conte.
1. Your favorite bridal trend for 2016?
Boho Chic is the 2016 trend I love most and all gowns have been created inspired by the seventies and the Coachella Festival with its flowing lines, light fabrics and Boho details. It’s also a chic collection because I used noble fabrics such as silk chiffon, Georgette, tulle and french laces. I named it The Lightness because I was most inspired by the airy, fluffy lines of this trend.CHIARACHIARA2. Your favorite piece from you collection that you advice my readers to try?
I have to say I do not have a collection’s preferite piece because I really love every single model. I worked on it with passion and fine research, inspired by the brides requests and thinking about what are they’re looking for in a wedding gown; but I’d like to say to the future 2016 brides that a blouse on the gown instead of a shrug is the new fashion. The finesse of the blouse completes the bridal outfit and it can be taken off later and substituted, for example, by a decorated, jeweled belt. Two options for one gown. The silk chiffon and lace Chiara gown it is specifically created in this way. Also it has the nude back, which is one of the 2016 trend that will last all through the season.
3. Your top tips for brides?
My advice to the brides is to enter the bridal store with an open mind, because is easy to be surprised by gowns you didn’t think that could fit, by model or line. Let be counseled by the store staff which is expert and knows which gown fits and can make your silhouette look at its best. But in the end to understand if it’s the right dress just go with the feeling. Nobody than the bride knows when it the right one :).
It is possible to book Couture Hayez collection in their exclusive flag store in Milan, Via Francesco Hayez 14. Here you can find and try all the collections, that will be custom fit and personalized on you in their workplace by their expert seamstresses. (Tel. +39220241665)

TheFashionBrides Q&A ep.3 : Bo & Luca
AdvertisementsOur 2016 Q&A series continues with the boho chic wonderland created by Sharon at Bo&Luca! Rewriting the rules of bridal design and not driven by either trends or tradition, these are the gowns that tell an epic story – the story of the wearer and her loves. I had the priviledge to have the creative director and founder of Bo&Luca answer our basic Q&A and now I’m able to share it with you guys. Do tell me what is your favorite gown from the Bo and Luca universe?
1. What is your favorite bridal trend for 2016
My favourite bridal trend is a non-trend. I am eternally attracted to the new, the different, the charismatic, something that catches the eye but never to trends. I always encourage our brides to be different and to dare to express their individuality through their gowns or through any piece they wear.2. What is your favorite piece from you collection that you advice my readers to try
One of my absolute favourite pieces is our whimsical ISRA two piece wedding gown. Women are always pleasantly surprised when trying on this piece. Especially if they do not envision wearing a two piece gown. There is something about its simplicity that reflects nothing but understated elegance. It is a very figure flattering piece entirely hand beaded on the finest silk.3. Do you advice brides to use colors for their wedding gown?
I advise brides to do what they please on their wedding day and to be themselves, regardless of what this may be. This day is about them and their partner and no one else!Bo&Luca have two flagship studios : one in Brisbane, Australia and one in Cape Town, South Africa. Their pieces are also currently available at Loho Bride in San Francisco as well as The Lovers Bride in London. Find all details about their locations here

TheFashionBrides Q&A ep.2 : Claire La Faye
AdvertisementsInspired by a need for the rare and unexpected, Claire La Faye offers a style for women that is wearable, feminine, and most unforgettable.
What is your favorite bridal trend for 2016?
I’ve really enjoyed the bohemian trend I’ve been seeing lately, and it has inspired a few of the pieces in my collection. What is your favorite piece from you collection that you advice my readers to try?
I love every piece of the 2016 collection, but if I had to choose one, I would say Spellbound. The Guipure lace just looks great in this two-piece gown and I can totally picture it on a boho bride getting married in a desert somewhere.Do you advice brides to use colors for their wedding gown?
Yes, absolutely! Colors can be fun, yet still elegant on their wedding day. I’m finding that more brides are veering away from the traditional ivory route, which gives us designers the opportunity to play with our creativity when designing new collections.Buy@

TheFashionBrides Q&A ep.1 : Galia Lahav
AdvertisementsI’m so excited I finally managed to get our Q&A up and ready. Starting today you will have a daily dose of your favorite bridal designers only here on TheFashionBrides. I’m super excited to start this series with my current favorite designer ( in the whoooole world) but first let me tell you a bit about the story behind our super series. Each interview has (almost) the same questions and tries to dig deep into 2016 ( it’s crazy 2015 is almost done, right?). With no furter ado, let’s get started. Don’t forget to share with your friends and fellow brides! xoxo
What is your favorite bridal trend for 2016?
Our favorite trend our new mixture of fitted fabrics which are tailored and and form a slender silhouette, mixed with very soft and vaporous fabrics, which add lightness and a dreamy addition to any dress.
What is your favorite piece from you collection that you advice my readers to try?
Our most significant dress which embodies this collections philosophy is Roxanne, it simply has everything incorporated in it – the Gothic medieval allure, the form fitted structure, and Drama in a very flattering way.
Do you advice brides to use colors for their wedding gown?
Color – always ! a hint of color adds depth and texture, and as we believe a wedding dress has a lot of meaning and depth, it gives a deeper expression to the feeling which makes the dress.

FashionBride Interview with Critsey Rowe
Advertisements First of all I have to say a huge Thank You and love ya to Critsey. She’s wonderful which proves me that she’d make a perfect photographer for our weddings.Second in line comes the wonderful way she answered my questions. You can find some interesting tricks to use for you wedding and some real pro advice.
First of all tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am an International lifestyle photographer specializing in weddings. I have been shooting events for over eight years. I am inspired by each clients own unique personalities.
When did you decide to do this? I assume it’s not as easy as it would seem at first sight.
Not unlike many photographers, I have always been a “photographer”…always the girl with a camera at parties, family affairs and weddings. I decided to become a professional photographer after realizing how much I really love being a part of such a special event and being able to give people something they may not get from someone else.
What is the first thing that you notice at a wedding?
When I arrive at an event the first person I look for is the bride. Brides are always so beautiful on their wedding day and I am so excited to see their dress. I also love decor` and always can’t wait to see what the bride has chosen for her event.
How do you choose you clients or do they choose you? As in, you tend to join more non-conformist couples or the traditional ones.
Because of the style of photography I offer I get a mix of clients. I want to capture their uniqueness and personalities so every event for me is different because every client is so different.
What do you like to see in a bridal outfit (dress and accessories)? Is it the simplicity of a bride, her personality, the luxury of her gown?
I love when a bride goes for something different…whether it is the dress that is unique, a pair of pink Jimmy Choo’s in place of the traditional white, a birdcage veil or a fun accessory, such as feathers in her bouquet!
Do you like a certain thematic party or you go more for a easy approach, more of a friendly party then a sophisticated event?
I really love both. A few weeks ago I photographed a small event with only ten of closest family and friends, which made the event quaint and romantic…everyone was so emotional. This past weekend I photographed a Greek wedding with over 500+ guest that was filled with lots of traditions and it was so much fun! The Greek dancing is amazing!
Can you give us some tips, like how should a bride prepare for the photo session.
I would recommend allowing enough time in the schedule of events to have portraits of the bride and groom. Sometimes the schedule gives very little time just for the romantic photos, and these are very important shots from the day.
If you would give as an insight approach on the chromatic of a weeding what would the colors be ?
Wow! There are so many great ones! My favorites are the spring colors, pinks, yellows and green. Really every combination is fun to photograph. I love details and love when the coordinator or bride incorporates the color scheme with the details.
You’ve made pictures all over the world, what spot was “the perfect one”?
Anguilla, It is the most beautiful island! I think what made it my favorite destination location was the clients I photographed there…they were amazing…I felt like family by the end of the week. One place I would love to photograph a wedding would be in China. I love when weddings have and Asian fusion and know I would love a traditional Chinese wedding. I have photographed many ethnic and cultural weddings and always love seeing the different traditions.
Actually, could you tell us some details that surprised you, pleasantly over the years?
One of my brides had guests write quotes on quilting squares that she later made into a spread for her guest room. Much cooler than the traditional sign in book! I recently had a bride and groom that printed the all 300+ guest names on their cake! Yes, it was a pretty big cake.
Who made your photo album and how was it ?
I just got married on 3.19.08 and I am working on our album now. I love Kambara Albums and we will have a storybook style with a brushed metal cover.
If you should point out three elements for a perfect wedding photo album what would those be?
Look at all the different designs to be able to choose a style that fits your personality. Put all the photos you wish to have in it because you can’t add them later. Choose the photos you love to go in the album not just the ones that tell a story.
Brides are in general scared of the camera; let’s face it .. we all are, what are your advises for all we scared FashionBrides.
A lot of people have not been photographed professionally and they are always pleasantly surprised how beautiful they look when their image is captured the right way! If you choose the right photographer you will not be afraid to see the outcome!
Last but not least, why should we choose you for our wedding photo session ?
My clients generally choose me because they love my style and personality and that I accommodate to their needs. I am not a cookie cutter photographer and I don’t appeal to cookie cutter brides.
And where can my readers find you ?
They can find me online www.critseyrowe.com be sure to check out my blog! Via email: mailto:critsey@critseyrowe.com or by phone: 800.883.8036

FashionBride Interview with Sarah Houston
AdvertisementsFashionBride had a small talk with Sarah Houston. The designer was patient enough to answer all the questions (let’s face it when it comes to gown we just can’t stop from asking) and I really hope you’ll find all the information useful. Sarah was kind and gave a preview of her brand new collection… I hope you’ll enjoy the interview and off course you’ll wear her gowns.
How different is a wedding gown designer from an “usual” designer? What is so special about designing bridal gowns?
One of the key challenges facing a wedding gown designer is the need to balance both current fashion trends and a long history of bridal tradition. Let’s face it – a bride’s wedding day is one of the most important events in her life and often has been planned & visualized years in advance. The gown has to be “perfect”. For me, it’s a wonderfully creative design process to strike a harmonious balance between gown design, beadwork and laces to create something that is unique and will appeal to today’s bride.
When did you understood that this is really what do be a bridal designer?
I have always been interested in clothing design and fabrics. Becoming a bridal designer evolved as clients expressed interest in a softer flowing look for their wedding dress.
Did you fallow the standards imposed by tradition or you tried to go more for the avant-garde trends?
Definitely avante-garde. My designs are all uniquely inspired and each one has its own character and story to tell.
How long does it take to design a single wedding dress?
It all depends on my creative mood and inspiration. Some gowns were designed in a few days while others took several months until I was completely happy with it.
Can you tell us a bit more about where do you get your inspiration from?
My inspiration comes from many places but most notably – churches, architecture, and art. My most recent collection has been greatly inspired by my travels within Europe (mostly France, Italy and Spain)
When did you decided (and why) to design gowns for pregnant brides?
My focus was designing couture bridal gowns and it was not my intention to ever start a line of maternity bridal gowns. However, I kept getting requests from brides that were referred to me from past clients. These brides were pregnant and either wanted to get married prior to the baby being born or had planned a wedding when the “expecting” surprise came. The wedding dress that they previously selected was no longer appropriate, forcing them to look for something else.
This group of women tended to be professionals between the ages of 28- 38 who were looking for something elegant, comfortable and flattering. They wanted their wedding to be a day of joy and celebration and like any traditional bride they too wanted to look and feel like a princess. Each bride expressed to me how they wanted to celebrate the fact that they were expecting and how important it was for them to feel stylish, elegant and sexy on their wedding day.
These women repeatedly shared with me how they found the dress seeking process to be incredibly frustrating. They felt they had no support through the traditional stores and maternity stores did not have anything suitable. After receiving many, many such requests and personally speaking with these women I decided in late summer of 2006 to address this situation and I designed the initial collection of our maternity bridal dresses.
Do you think brides should opt for a designer gown (a given pattern) or talk their way in and explain what they want, in order to get a unique dress?
In my experience it’s very difficult for most brides to design their own wedding gown. They don’t understand the design process and often have too many ideas that they want to incorporate into their dress. It’s much easier for most brides to pick an existing style and then modify it to suit their particular wedding venue and personality.
Do you also work with brides? Can someone come to your store and ask you to create a special gown only for her?
Yes – I’ve done this on several occasions where a bride meets me at one of our retail stores and we can modify a design to accommodate her wishes.
Have you got any particular dress you designed and have a very special meaning for you?
Each and every dress has a special meaning to me. If I had to pick one it would be style # SHM-010 (gown name is “Juliet”) as it was designed and inspired by the love story “Romeo & Juliet”. It appears in our latest ad which will be released in major bridal magazines next month.
Do you think a bride should stick to the tradition white? Or should we start thinking in colors?
This is a very personal issue for every bride and is her choice but I’m a big believer in variety and I happen to like colors. Some brides have skin textures that look absolutely radiant in non-white colors such as a butter yellow or beige pink. Most people don’t realize that prior to the Victoria era bridal gowns were made in rich vibrant colors.
In your point of you how should a perfect bride be? What would you give her and, maybe, other brands can’t.
When the bride puts on a dress and it “feels perfect” – she will know it. There is no magic formula…she will simply know. One of the key benefits of my collection is that each and every dress is carefully designed and constructed around specific body types to flatter every type and shape of bride.
And what about the other components (corset, shoes, accessories,) how important are them for the entire “bridal view”, let’s say?
Every detail is important – the objective is to “complete the picture” and have all the accessories combine to compliment and accentuate her dress.
You have a line of corsets; will we have more to follow? I mean do you think on creating a line of accessories in the future?
Yes. My line of bridal corsets will be expanding and we also offer custom designed veils and even signature vintage jewelry to match each particular dress.
Why do you think your gowns are different?
My gowns are all unique in that each one is inspired by something in my life that I have found beautiful, elegant and captivating. The collection has been described as flowing, ultra-romantic and exuding with old world elegance. Not only are the designed to be stylish and feminine but I also insist on absolute comfort – without ever compromising on looks. Many brides have told me that my gowns feel as amazing as they look – a wonderful compliment to hear.
Can you give us an insight on your next Collection? What where your inspiration sources, what did you opt for as materials, shapes etc.
Soft and flowing styles with a modern twist are here to stay for the next few seasons. My brides love the look and feel of layers with lots of movement. This season, my collection emphasizes several modified A-Line styles with my signature mix of fabric combinations. Sculpted necklines, luminous silk tulles and stretch silks are combined to create a body skimming silhouette reminiscent of old world elegance.
Last but not least, do you have an advice for FashionBride readers?
Above all – do not settle. Heed the advice of others with care – many will tell you what they “think” you should look like. You will know when the gown looks and feels “perfect”. Trust your instincts.
For the maternity bride – PLEASE be cautious when a store tells you that they will simply order you a standard dress but one or two sizes larger and then alter it to fit your body shape. This can be a recipe for disaster. I have had many tearful brides in a panic trying to find a wedding dress designed to fit the unique curves of the expecting bride.

FashionBride’s Interviews: Tony Ward
Advertisements When looking at the amazing gowns Tony Ward creates you can see exactly why fashion is considered wearable art. We had the privilege to ask a few questions and include Tony Ward into our FashionBride’s Interviews. Tony Ward, son of a well known couturier based in Beirut, grew up in the effervescent world of Fashion, surrounded by the most beautiful silks and the perfectly cut suits which made his father famous among high society women.Learn more about the creative process that goes behind these amazing art pieces and don’t forget to check tonyward.net
1. When did you decide to become a designer and why did you find this domain interesting?
I was born in the family Couture Atelier. Growing-up in the effervescent world of fashion, surrounded by the most beautiful silks and gowns gave me a taste for Fashion at a young age. I started College to become a doctor, and then I quickly realized it wasn’t my true calling!
2. Talk us trough the first years of you work. Maybe you could tell us what did change in time? Are your designs different from the very beginning?
There are some techniques and craftsmanship that cannot but be learned at specialized schools and applied at the Masters Ateliers. I consider the experience I gained from my time spent at Lanvin and Dior to be very important and very defining in my career. My designs have evolved with time surely as I have grown and my inspiration from Architecture became more and more intense with each new Collection.3. Why should a bride-to-be choose one of your designs?
The Tony Ward Bride is Romantic, elegant and sophisticated.4. Do tell us a bit more about your inspiration sources.
I draw my inspiration from contemporary Architecture, which helps me envision sculptural forms, create innovative techniques and play with the boundaries of light and transparency to create elegant and regal, refined silhouettes.6. From your point of view, how should a perfect bride look like?
The cut of a Bridal dress should suit the woman wearing it. For example if she has a slim body, a body conscious dress would be amazing. If she has big hips, a slight A-line on the waist can help. If she has a big bust she needs to tighten the shoulders without opening too much. But for me a perfect Bride is one that is glowing with happiness!7. And tell us what would you give her and, maybe, other brands can’t.
A Bride should always choose the dress that highlights her qualities. She needs to follow trends intelligently and choose something that matches her personality and emphasizes her most beautiful traits. She must feel comfortable in the dress, which should reflect her true identity. She shouldn’t worry about trends, as it often happens. I can be her good adviser and listen to what she really wants (laughs)8. Last but not least, do you have any advice for FashionBride readers?
Be yourself, you will find your own style
