    FashionBride’s Interviews: Papilio

    Advertisements

One of the reasons why FashionBride exists is to bring forward all the amazing bridal designers in the world. We often focus solely on some of the countries and forget the talented designers in others. That’s why we are proud to present our interview with Alena Goretskaya the creative soul behind the Russian brand Papilio. Needless to say we love the art behind the striking gowns featured in their collections.  Here are the questions to our questionnaire but before don’t forget to check Papilio’s website ->click here <-

    1. When did you decided to become a designer and why did you find this domain interesting? alk us trough the first years of you work. Maybe you could tell us what did change in time? Are your designs different from the very beginning?

I’ve decided to become a designer since the very youth, because I grew up in the Soviet Union, where beautiful clothing was luxury that is why I had to sew a lot to be able to dress nicely. I was fascinated with fashion from early childhood, dressing up dolls. I draw well, graduated from art school, and later entered an art college. I used to work as a graphic designer and later together with my partner we decided to open the first wedding salon in our city, and then began my work as a designer of clothing. We created very unusual dresses at our studio which were distinguished by their originality and began to please our brides greatly. Being inspired with the reaction of our customers we decided to present collections in Moscow. The reaction was so rapturous and we received so many orders that we had realized the necessity to get on more serious level in the creation of collections and their wide replication as well.

    2. Why should a bride-to-be choose one of your designs?

The bride’s beauty that needs to be well framed is always the main purpose in creating wedding dresses for me. I always try to make a dress as lightweight as possible, tender, without rigid corsets and heavy skirts. A girl should not simply wear a dress, she must enjoy it, feeling herself incredibly elegant and attractive in it. Along with the classic silhouettes, I often use extraordinary designer solutions, which cause an abiding interest to our dresses. I often come across the images of our dresses in a variety of thematic weddings in the Internet.

    3. Do tell us a bit more about your inspiration sources.

The main sources of inspiration for me are the materials. When you take into the hands excellent fabrics, laces, you begin to drape on the mannequin… Ideas and improbable inspiration to create something incredibly beautiful appear.

    4. Have you got any piece you’ve created and that has a very special meaning for you? Can you describe it or can show us a picture?

It’s hard to single out something special, because usually there are many favorite dresses in every collection. I remember the dress that I made for my daughter (photos above). Another model, which is called “Rock crystal” (image bellow), had been selling for several years in huge replications; it is difficult to explain its success even to me. This model is then glimpsed very often on television in various photo shoots, etc. I even read the following on one of the bride’s forums: “Girls, respond, who are not getting married in Papilio dress “Rock crystal”?” This model was so popular that the incredible amount of fakes was done.

    6. From your point of view, how should a perfect bride look like?

The ideal bride – the happiest girl in the world. And it should be visible in her eyes. Her dress is just a frame that can accentuate the natural beauty and make this memorable day even more wonderful.
The girl should feel her dress. It is very important to choose the right one, because it will stay in the memory and on the photos the rest of her life.

    7. And tell us what would you give her and, maybe, other brands can’t.

Every dress which is created by our Fashion House made with extraordinary love, from first sketch to the last touch. We believe that every bride feels the positive energy, which we insert into our dresses. Our motto for many years is: “Every Papilio dress must bring happiness to its owner.” We are certain that being inspired in such a way it will definitely be happy!

    8. Last but not least, do you have any advice for FashionBride readers?
Be loved and give love to everyone. And then, you and the world will be better and cleaner!

When I design a bride dress, the desire guiding my hand is to enhance the unique, fascinating and mysterious creature hidden in every woman.  It is a secret that does not always want to be revealed, but that, when it shows itself to the world, needs textiles and embroideries as precious as the moment she is living. – Anna Tumas

Patricia Avendano 2015 Spring Bridal Collection

    Advertisements

GLAMOUR is the term that Patricia Avendaño feels best describes this new collection, which is made up of creations in which the design and the fabrics are combined to obtain the best results. There is a common denominator in all her dresses, a particular essence that differentiates and highlights them, but within this philosophy, in which the quality of the dressmaking and the care taken in the selection of fabrics is vital, there is a feeling of plurality that makes them appeal to a different public.
