When did you decided to become a designer and why did you find this domain interesting?

I was born into the industry with both my parents being in bridal design, manufacturing and retail between the 1960’-1990’s. They had several bridal boutiques across the U.K and a manufacturing business that supplied independent boutiques both in the U.K and Internationally. We are a bit of a bridal family, my daughter has her own brand too called ‘Charlotte Balbier,’ she’s become a great success! I feel very privileged to have been brought up around dresses and fabrics all my life and carry on this family tradition!

Talk us trough the first years of you work. Maybe you could tell us what did change in time?

We grew Amanda Wyatt pretty fast because we brought something new to the industry! When we started the frou frou dresses were all the rage in the bridal world! We brought something more streamlined to the industry and we really hit the spot for brides and grew the brand!

Are your designs different from the very beginning?

Amanda Wyatt has been going for over 40 years so styles and designs have of course changed! During the Princess Diana era brides loved bigger dresses but it seems to be more reserved nowadays and brides like simplicity! Times and tastes certainly change in catwalk and high street fashions so it is no different to bridal!

Why should a bride-to-be choose one of your designs? Amanda Wyatt creates special designs and they are at great price-points! We also make statement dresses for brides to be remembered and talked about long after the wedding. The ‘Hetty’ dress from the latest Amanda Wyatt Collection has so many pretty little details on from the gold, silver sequin flower detailing. The clear lace outlining the chest is a lovely contrast. With pretty buttons detailing down the back of the dress it’s simply divine! The ‘Hetty’ is a knockout dress and great for pictures!

Do tell us a bit more about your inspiration sources.

I gain inspiration from my brides mostly! I meet brides first hand all the time at trunkshows! I love hearing the feedback on the gowns and fabrics. We love hearing what brides really want for their big days!

From your point of view, how should a perfect bride look like?

A bride should feel like a Princess on her wedding day! She will really want to wow her guests when she is walking down the aisle. A brides needs to pick something that will be chatted about long after the wedding! That is what Amanda Wyatt is all about. We have stunning dresses with little details to add that bit extra!

And tell us what would you give her and, maybe, other brands can’t.

We give great quality dresses and they are at affordable price-point. We have been in the business for over 4 generations so we have all those years experience at creating gowns for brides. A lot longer than other designers on the market!

Last but not least, do you have any advice for FashionBride readers?

The most important part of a wedding is to remember to have fun! You need to look your best on your wedding day and remember to enjoy it!
