FahionBride Icon: Elizabeth Taylor

Portrait Of Elizabeth Taylor

Who can forget about Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra or her seven wedding? She was the icon of her time and unlike many stars of that era she was wilder and livelier! So as her fashion style, as Liz was never afraid to wear a bit more cleavage or a special design gown. For todays post I chose some of her conservative looks – but I will sure make a special post about her more unusual looks as well. You can’t dislike Liz as she is purely fabulousness!

Brand and Perry’s wedding pips Royals to the post in top invite poll

Russell Brand and Katy Perry’s eagerly anticipated nuptials have emerged as the celebrity wedding people would most like to receive an invitation to, new research has revealed.

The UK survey of 2,000 people, commissioned by Mercure hotels, has revealed Brand and Perry’s wedding ceremony as number one in the top ten of our most coveted celebrity wedding invitations, coming ahead of rumoured royal weddings.

Second place went to the royal union of long term couple Prince William and Kate Middleton, who were hotly followed by golden couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie on the wedding invitation wish list. The Windsor family made a second appearance, with the sealing of on-off couple Prince Harry and Chelsy Davy’s relationship coming fourth in the poll.

In fifth place came newly-reunited Sienna Miller and Jude Law’s celebrations, despite the couple splitting after Jude was exposed as a love rat in 2005.

The poll showed that when it comes to the X-Factor, Simon Cowell still has it, with his anticipated ceremony to wed girlfriend Mezhgan Hussainy beating an invite to the imagined wedding of the nation’s sweetheart and fellow judge, Cheryl Cole to new partner, dancer Derek Hough.

Surprisingly, an invitation to the unlikely coupling of new X-Factor presenter Konnie Huq and TV satirist Charlie Brooker came in eighth, ahead of an invite to pint-sized pop princess Kylie’s wedding to her long-term Spanish model boyfriend, Andres Velencoso Segura.

Melissa Micallef from Mercure hotels, said: “Russell Brand and Katy Perry’s wedding is the hottest ticket in town when it comes to celebrity weddings and the research suggests that the expectation of a fantastic party is a great draw for wedding guests. With Katy revealing that Russell is taking a major role in planning, and with rumours of an exotic ceremony in India, people are banking on it being the party of a lifetime.”

Celebrity Wedding Co-ordinator, Siobhan Craven-Robins, who counts Hollywood A-listers and British TV stars amongst her clients, commented: “”The best wedding celebrations don’t have to come with a celebrity price tag but are generally those that reflect the personalities of the couple, so it’s perhaps no surprise to see Russell Brand and Katy Perry at the top of this list. Other grooms could also take a leaf out of Russell’s book when it comes to getting involved in the planning too, as all too often it’s left to the bride to do most of the organisation.”

The top 10 celebrity wedding invitations are as follows:

Russell Brand and Katy Perry
Prince William and Kate Middleton
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie
Prince Harry and Chelsy Davy
Sienna Miller and Jude Law
Simon Cowell and Mezhgan Hussainy
Cheryl Cole and Derek Hough
Konnie Huq and Charlie Brooker
Kylie Minogue and Andres Velencoso Segura
Christine Bleakley and Frank Lampard

Traditional bride – Korean Inspiration

Traditional Hairstyles for Modern Beauties Traditional hairdos for Korean women are largely divided into chignons, the most basic form, and graceful and elaborate ornamental arrangements. Even today, they are worn on festive occasions or by brides having a traditional wedding. Here, the Chosun Ilbo takes a look at five options.

1. Plaited-braids

The plaited-braid was only allowed for unmarried women in the Chosun Dynasty (1392-1910). The three-strand braid is tied with a long, red pigtail ribbon (daenggi) at the end, while an ornamental piece (baesssi daenggi) decorates the hair.

2. Traditional Wedding Hairdo

This features flamboyant adornments with a simple chignon beneath. It matches the traditional wedding garment or “hwarot,” a magnificent wedding gown in crimson silk with wide sleeves.

3. Modern Interpretation

The bride’s hair is pulled back into a chignon, and a toque decorated with corals and beads sits on the crown of the head. Worn along with the hairdo is the “nogwonsam,” or green, decorative ceremonial topcoat.

4. Gisaeng Style

While traditional Korean dresses are represented by the words “elegant” and “refined,” the clothes worn by female entertainers of the Chosun Dynasty exude splendor and voluptuousness. Accentuating them, the hairdo known as “tre meori” features a braided coil. This style is often found in the genre paintings of the era.

5. Fusion Wedding Hairdo

A combination of Korean chignon and Western bun, this hair style maximizes Eastern beauty.

Golden Globe Awards 2010 Fashion Choices

Known worldwide for its glittering Golden Globe Awards ceremony held every January and its multi-million dollar donations to charity, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association had humble origins that stemmed solely from a group of journalists’ desire to efficiently and accurately cover all aspects of the world of entertainment.

Today’s organization has its roots in the early 1940s when Pearl Harbor had drawn America into World War II. Audiences, hungry for diversion, were seeking out films offering escape, inspiration and entertainment; and filmmakers such as Orson Welles, Preston Sturges, Darryl Zanuck and Michael Curtiz were working hard to fulfill the need. Amid the turmoil of war and the difficulties with communications, a handful of Los Angeles-based overseas journalists banded together to share contacts, information and material.

Mimi van Wyck feather wedding dress

feather-wedding-dress1At her wedding in the  fall of 2007 on Johns Island, S.C., Mimi van Wyck engaged in some fanciful role playing.

Sheathed in spiraling layers of silk tulle, she looked every inch the languid 19th-century heroine.

Her gown, by the British designer Alexander McQueen, was ethereally romantic, said Ms. van Wyck, a New York event planner who traces her lineage to New Amsterdam.

All but weightless, it reflected the wedding’s balmy setting: a grove of ancient oaks in the walled garden of the old plantation.

“Those trees were filled with Spanish moss,” Ms. van Wyck said, “and like that moss, my gown was kind of blowing in the breeze.”

Fergie and Josh via US Weekly

placesettingsUs Weekly was the first to reveal gorgeous official photos of Fergie and Josh Duhamel’s Jan. 10 wedding in Malibu.

Ok, now that we pasted the US weekly introduction I can say what I really it. I HATE IT!!!! Fergie looks like… well… hmmm… Fergie.

Why do I hate it?

Reason 1: She looks like she’s ordered the gown 6 months ago and now she can barely breath in it. Hey, I’m no size 0 but at least I know how to choose my outfits so I won’t end up a size 312.

Reason 2: There’s nothing I love more (not!) the a bride who looks like a … well, you figure that out. Extra short gown, hair all over the place and a smoking guitar player… a bride’s dream.

Reason 3: It seems like the brides first words have been ‘I’m married, bitches!’… such class, such style, such manners. How could I not love it? Well… I JUST DON’T.

Reason 4: Why do they have to offer footage from the nuptial bed? I really don’t want to see Fergie without the gown… she sure looks like there’s a lot of her.

But I did love the flower arrangements :).
