Wedding Gown Guide: Long Sleeves

You’ve been asking for it and the bridal designers heard your prayers. Sleeves came down the runway at nearly every show of this season’s Bridal Fashion Week, but they’re not just for keeping cozy at a winter wedding. We saw super sheer sleeves that were barely visible, long intricate designs that snaked down the arms, and classic all-over lace reminiscent of weddings past.

Wedding Gown Guide: Princess Bridal Gown

A fitted bodice flows alluringly into a full skirt, this is the definition of a classic princess gown. This style is for the bride that dreams of a full skirt but is a bit less fond of the bateau and ballgown and underwhelmed by the a-line. Perfect for a woman who loves volume and attention.

Wedding Gown Guide: Halter

A halter-style neck is used to create a backless look on a dress. Typically, two pieces of fabric are brought from the bust around the back of the neck and either tied or clasped together for support. The straps may be thick pieces of fabric or thin straps, even chains or elastic. For this guide I chose to differentiate between halter and halter straps.

Wedding Gown Guide: Trumpet

The trumpet fits tight on your body until approximately mid-thigh, where it begins to gradually come away from the body in an open skirt, much like the shape of a trumpet. The key elements of this design are the flare’s point of origin – mid-thigh – and the ease in which it flares. This is the perfect alternative to the mermaid dress which can be a bit difficult to wear due to its firm fit on the body. The trumpet dress can be more or less fitted as well as it can be made using very flowy materials to give it an even more relaxed look.

Wedding Gown Guide: Transparent Skirt

Recently I stumbled upon some articles that were tearing apart the transparent wedding gowns. While I myself am against a sexy dress for the ceremony ( i prefer a classy romantic gown) I can’t understand why someone would be against a sexy party gown with a transparent skirt. The truth is some people just like to be negative and impose their own insecurities. My advice: go with what you love and enjoy your wedding day as much as you can, you’ll be lovely and loved.
