Brand and Perry’s wedding pips Royals to the post in top invite poll
Russell Brand and Katy Perry’s eagerly anticipated nuptials have emerged as the celebrity wedding people would most like to receive an invitation to, new research has revealed. The UK survey of 2,000 people, commissioned by Mercure hotels, has revealed Brand and Perry’s wedding ceremony as number one in the top ten of our most coveted celebrity wedding invitations, coming ahead of rumoured royal weddings.
Second place went to the royal union of long term couple Prince William and Kate Middleton, who were hotly followed by golden couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie on the wedding invitation wish list. The Windsor family made a second appearance, with the sealing of on-off couple Prince Harry and Chelsy Davy’s relationship coming fourth in the poll.
In fifth place came newly-reunited Sienna Miller and Jude Law’s celebrations, despite the couple splitting after Jude was exposed as a love rat in 2005.
The poll showed that when it comes to the X-Factor, Simon Cowell still has it, with his anticipated ceremony to wed girlfriend Mezhgan Hussainy beating an invite to the imagined wedding of the nation’s sweetheart and fellow judge, Cheryl Cole to new partner, dancer Derek Hough.

Surprisingly, an invitation to the unlikely coupling of new X-Factor presenter Konnie Huq and TV satirist Charlie Brooker came in eighth, ahead of an invite to pint-sized pop princess Kylie’s wedding to her long-term Spanish model boyfriend, Andres Velencoso Segura.
Melissa Micallef from Mercure hotels, said: “Russell Brand and Katy Perry’s wedding is the hottest ticket in town when it comes to celebrity weddings and the research suggests that the expectation of a fantastic party is a great draw for wedding guests. With Katy revealing that Russell is taking a major role in planning, and with rumours of an exotic ceremony in India, people are banking on it being the party of a lifetime.”
Celebrity Wedding Co-ordinator, Siobhan Craven-Robins, who counts Hollywood A-listers and British TV stars amongst her clients, commented: “”The best wedding celebrations don’t have to come with a celebrity price tag but are generally those that reflect the personalities of the couple, so it’s perhaps no surprise to see Russell Brand and Katy Perry at the top of this list. Other grooms could also take a leaf out of Russell’s book when it comes to getting involved in the planning too, as all too often it’s left to the bride to do most of the organisation.”
The top 10 celebrity wedding invitations are as follows:Russell Brand and Katy Perry
Prince William and Kate Middleton
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie
Prince Harry and Chelsy Davy
Sienna Miller and Jude Law
Simon Cowell and Mezhgan Hussainy
Cheryl Cole and Derek Hough
Konnie Huq and Charlie Brooker
Kylie Minogue and Andres Velencoso Segura

Steal that style: Wesley Sneijder and Yolanthe Cabau van Kasbergen
Dutch footballer Wesley Sneijder married model and Dutch TV presenter Yolanthe Cabau van Kasbergen in a ceremony in Tuscany that could only be described as a fashion own goal.
Yolanthe, while unquestionably beautiful in white, wore a dress over-the-top as it was with layers, hoops and lace. And Wesley’s choice of outfit was almost as breathtaking as some of the fouls perpetrated by his Netherlands side in their World Cup final defeat by Spain.
