Exactly a year to the day after Alberta Ferretti offered to design Candice Lake’s wedding dress, the model and photographer tied the knot with conceptual architect and fellow Aussie Didier Ryan in Sydney. “I was in Milan modeling for the Limited Edition demi-couture show,” Lake explains. “I was one of the first girls there, so following my fitting, I walked into this amazing archive space to pick a dress for the evening. I asked if I could try one on, and minutes later, Ferretti said she’d love to make my wedding dress. I just started crying!” The dress Lake picked that night—a sparkling, gold whisper—ended up being the same one she changed into, post-ceremony, for champagne and dancing.
