The media had been rumoring that Nancy was planning to get married on September the 1st; however the singer kept denying , it seems that Nancy wanted to have a quiet wedding.  After the wedding, the newly married headed to a European Island to spend their honeymoon.

    FashionBride Interview with Farah Angsana

    April 8, 2009 /

     br_fall011

It’s not easy to interview a great designer, so I don’t even want to tell you how hard it is to get the power  and ask people you admire to feature your small blog.

But everythime I do it, I discover that behind the great names you always (or at least many times) find greater people. I’ve asked 12 questions to Farah Angsana and she was kind enough to answer all of them and to give us an insight to this amazing world, embroidered with gowns, dreams and new beginings.

So, read it carefully and don’t forget to try some of Farah’s gowns until you decide upon the one, who knows maybe she’s the one that has already designed you bridal dream gown.

    Here we go:

1.How did and when did you decide do be a bridal designer?

I’ve always had a desire to do a bridal collection. When I brought my couture collection to the U.S, my team encouraged me to start exploring bridal and after several months of research, I finally decided to launch a collection last year. I have been overwhelmed by the response I have received.
    2.What materials do you use?

I use everything from Silk Duchess Satin and Silk Chiffon to Silk Gazar and lace. It depends on the designs. Each fabric represents a different character to make into gowns.

    3. Where do you find your inspiration?

Everywhere! I usually look for inspiration from travelling and different cultures to even the movies and fantasizing what my idea of a dream wedding should be.

    br_fall012

4.Have you got any favorite bridal designers?

I believe every bridal designer is doing what’s best for their clients and themselves. I appreciate all their hard work. Each one of them has its own specialty and style.

So it’s hard for me to have a favorite.
    5. Do you have a certain favorite color (ivory, pure white, blue white)? What do you think about colored wedding gowns?

I usually go for Ivory or white. I believe some colored wedding gowns are beautiful. Especially in gold, silver or even soft tones colors.

I am not a fan of dark colored wedding gowns.
    6. Is there a certain gown you absolutely love or that has an importance to you ?

I still have my grandmother’s wedding gown; it’s a very beautiful antique lace piece. She made it herself in the 20’s. Every time I open the box when I go home, I remember all the stories she had told me. Another wedding gown I admire is Christian Lacroix bridal piece from his Haute Couture collection. I saw it during his exhibition last year at the “Musee Les Arts Décoratifs” in Paris. It’s a work of artisan.  From the lace trims to the fabrics he combines, it just looks like beautiful layers of wedding cake from the back.

    7. Do you work with brides or you give them a range of gowns and they only select one?

I work with many different types of clients, from V.I.P who is very discreet to my recent Hollywood celebrity. I cater this service with another brand called “Farah Angsana Atelier Sposa”.

The service that I offer start from the meeting with the bride, acknowledge the wedding plan, location and her status. I usually ask what she likes and her preferences.

From there, I sketch in front of her to choose, select the fabrics to discussion of the embroideries. All the embroideries with “Farah Angsana Atelier Sposa” are hand embroidered in Paris by well-known house of “Lesage”.  Meanwhile, Farah AngsanaBridal Couture is available at exclusive bridal stores.

    8. Why do you think brides should buy a gown not rent or borrow?

I think brides should own their gowns for their special day. It’s a change towards her new life and She should feel brand new start from her special day for her love one.

Borrowing is like lending someone’s life to your new one. The bridal gown if she own will have a memory when they grow old, she will have a story to tell for her future generations.

    br_fall032

    9. Is the bridal gown different from any other gown? And why?

A bridal gown is different from any other gowns. It’s white, voluminous and feels exciting to choose and is there to represent a special day.
    10. How and why do your gowns stand out from the crowd?

It’s a combination of a simple silhouette with exquisite embroidery that make my gowns stand out.
    11. What are the main influences in your new collection?

My influence to new collection is from cultures to romance and life.

    br_fall041

    12. Have you got any advice for my readers?

    Absolutely.

    1.    It is important to understanding the shape of your body and your personal style, then to discuss it with the professionals for their collections.

    2.    Never bring too many people with you during a consultation. It could be just your mom or your good friend.

    3.    Avoid the over decorated wedding gown, like a Christmas tree for yourself; because it’s you that have to shine that day not only your dress.

    4.    As soon as you find the dress, order and buy it. So that it won’t confuse you even more. After all, you already consult with the professionals. They are the expert.
